This is one of those apps that gets better and more useful as time goes on, so the more you use it, the more you’ll love it. Our preferred app for getting detailed information about your battery (without rooting) is AccuBattery, which not only gives more insight into which apps are using the most battery, but also provides a detailed look into your battery health. That said, there are still a few ways you can get more meaningful battery stats on Android. But without rooting, you’re stuck with the information provided by Android’s built-in Battery screen because these apps just can’t see that data.

If you’ve rooted your Android device, you can still install an app like Better Battery Stats to view more detailed information on battery usage. Unfortunately, Google removed this permission from Android and apps can no longer view it. For example, you could view information about wakelocks, or view battery usage for periods of time not displayed in the Battery screen. You could then view more detailed battery statistics. Previously, it was possible for an app like Better Battery Stats to request the BATTERY_STATS permission and access this information.

"AL apps poorly optimized I confirm it's eating battery like crazy" I regularly run 4 apps (waze, life360, geocaching and Allstars, not to mention google) at the same time that are using the GPS and maps and don't have a problem. The AL lab app definitely kills your battery. I finally closed the AL app and 20 minutes later I had gained 40%. With the AL app open, screen off, phone charging in the car charger for 20 minutes it didn't gain 2%. The AL lab nearly zeroed my phone in under 3 hours. "I use the main hq app and I can run it all day long with only minor boosts from my in car charger. Still, some attention to optimizing for battery usage in the future might be in order.
